Europe is home to some of the most prominent and renowned universities with commendable degrees and education systems. This makes it a preferred alternative destination for international students. 

There are several doubts in students' minds when it comes to dressing for their chosen universities. 

Universities in Europe do not have a specific dress code as such. Here is an article to help you dress smartly at universities in Europe 

#Clothes to wear to the lectures 

While attending lectures, one should not be distracted, especially by the clothes they are wearing.  Most of Europe walks in style, so when you are in  Europe, there is an urge to dress in style. So make sure you dress in style yet comfortably. Skinny jeans, tights, jackets are the norm. During winters, it is wise to wear long-sleeved sweaters, scarves, gloves, and cute hats that keep you warm.

The most appropriate outfit for men at formal events is suited (especially in Germany). The suits are usually in darker colors such as black, navy blue, dark grey, or brown. Loud colors such as bright red are generally avoided. The suits are paired up with light-colored shirts such as white. You can also wear a tie to complete your look. It is advised that you wear clean and polished shoes with matching socks.

It is preferred that women dress in trouser suits for formal events. However, a jacket and skirt are also acceptable. The skirts should not be too short; a proper size is just above the knee. Avoid bright and shiny colors. Finish the look by putting on smart and neat shoes(sandals are to be avoided). If you opt for heels, ensure that they are not too high.

• Avoid loud/bright colors and patterns: Avoid dressing in red, yellow, or orange. Refrain from wearing polka dots, pinstripes, and cheetah print patterns for an interview.
• Wear outfits that are a perfect fit: A company that fits you entirely is a must for an interview. It is advised that you opt for a tailor-made suit 
• Please wear comfortable shoes: It is worthwhile to invest in good quality shoes. Make sure you wear shoes that look smart, polished, classic, and most importantly, they should be comfortable. Opting for closed-toed shoes is generally a good option. 
• Other details: ensure that you shave or groom your facial hair (men). Cut your nails. Avoid strong fragrances and perfumes. Make sure that your bags or purses that you carry long are scratch-free.
